UNC Chapel Hill
The Pink Bowz came to Chapel Hill in the spring of 2019. Started by one of the original founders, we were able to recruit an executive board and start planning for the fall. In the semester before COVID-19, we held our first ever TaTa Trot race on the UNC-CH campus with another organization, Love for Ladies, and donated $800 to the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Centers of UNC Hospitals, and $1,000 to a local family we met at the race. As we have reached our first milestone of sponsoring one family, we are looking forward to new endeavors for the 2020-2021 school year. We are planning a virtual 5K that can be run anywhere in October, and a Think Pink Gala in the spring!
The Pink Bowz Club at UNC Greensboro partnered this past year with The Sister’s Network of Greensboro to bring awareness about the fight against breast cancer to the Greensboro community. Members canvassed the Greensboro community in the Sister’s Network Gift for Life walk, passing out informational material on breast cancer and how The Sister’s Network can help provide mammograms to those without insurance. The Pink Bowz also hosted their first annual 5k on UNCG’s campus on October 28th and raised $500 for the Greensboro breast cancer community.
